We congratulate the Sampath Bank Athletic Team who emerged overall 03rd place at the 37th Mercantile Athletic Championship held on 05th & 06th November 2022 at Sugathadasa International Stadium, Colombo.

Over 2000 Athletes competed representing 58 companies, while Sampath Bank Athletic Team was energized with our own 62 athletes.

Sampath Bank PLC is proud to have collaborated with our fellow peers, Nations Trust Bank, HNB and DFCC Bank in the inaugural green initiative "Bankers on Bicycles" to promote sustainable living and the reduction of our carbon footprint on this planet by incorporating cycling into our daily lives. The event kicked off on the 26th of August with the participation of approximately 150 bankers from the 4 banks respectively.

Whilst wishing a very Happy Birthday to the most passionate cricketer and our own team member, who always drives the Sri Lankan team with dedication and commitment towards our team which has led us to many victories. Your leadership certainly brings glory to Sampath Bank as well. Your passion and dedication led to so many victorious moments for the country and we are extremely proud that you are a part of Team Sampath.

Sampath Bank emerged Runner-Up at Hockey League Tournament

Sampath Bank was recently placed runner’s-up at the Mercantile Hockey Association ‘A’ Division Men’s Hockey League Tournament 2022. The Bank’s team set out to play against Hatton National Bank "A" team where they scored a total of 01- NIL.

The match was held on Saturday, 11th June, at the Astro Turf Club located in Colombo 07.

The team was coached by DILUKA WEERASOORIYA and captained by MILROY ABEYKOON comprised of - BUWANEKA PARAHITIYAWA- MENUKA BANDARA - UDARA JAYARATHNE- LAHIRU NISHANTHA- AVINDA ADHIKARI- MANJULA ELWATTA- SAMEERA USHANTHA- RUKSHAN MALDENIYA- NUWAN GUNASEKARA - PUBUDU SARANGA - ASANKA MADURANGA - DILUM ARIYAWANSA - MALINDA ABEYNAYAKE - LAKSHAN RAVIHANSA - PRABODHA PIYASENA - DHANUSHKA JAYAWEERA - CHANDANA WERAGAMA - YOGENDREN SUGANTHAN (Game Secretary) and SADEEP THILAKARATHNE.

Continuing to nurture and support sports at all levels, Sampath Bank Sports Club honored its sportsmen and women at Colours Night 2019 which was held at Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo on 7th February 2020.

Our team member Senura Amarasinghe, attached to Card Center represented the winning team of 'Sri Lanka National Indoor Cricket' beating England by 4-2 in a 6 match series.

This is the first ever series victory registered by the Sri Lanka Indoor Cricket team in overseas.

Sampath Bank Sports Club honoured its sportsmen and women at Colors Nite – 2018 held at Grand Monarch, Thalawathugoda on 20th April 2018.

The 28th Inter Branch / Department Quiz Competition was held on Sunday, 08th April 2018 at Eagles' Lakeside Banquet & Convention Hall, Attidiya. HR Department emerged as overall champion. Aluthgama Branch and Akuressa Branch became champions in outstation category and difficult station category respectively.

Samuditha Samaratunga was adjudged the WINNER at both Humorous Speech Contest and Speech Evaluation Contest and Lahiru Premadasa was adjudged the 2nd Runner Up at the Humorous Speech Contest conducted by the Division C of Toastmasters International - District 82, held at the Centre for Banking Studies of Central Bank, Rajagiriya.

Our team member, Rangana Herath became the first left-arm spinner to take 400 wickets in Test Cricket.

Sampath Bank Athletic Team emerged overall 03rd Place at the 34th Mercantile Athletic Championship held on 20th, 21st & 22nd October 2017 at Mahinda Rajapaksha Stadium, Diyagama. The Team won 19 Gold Medals, 25 Silver Medals & 19 Bronze Medals and scored 224 points competing with 53 participant Companies.

Sampath Bank Chess Team emerged as the CHAMPIONS at the 06th Mercantile and Government Services International Rated Chess Championship – 2017, which was organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka.

Sampath Bank Badminton Team emerged "Third Place" (Plate Division) at the Mercantile Inter Firm Team Doubles Badminton Championship 2017 which was organized by the Mercantile Badminton Association.

The Colors Nite 2017, organized by the Sampath Bank Sports Club, was held on 21.04.2017 at Kingsbury Hotel in recognition of the sports personnel for their performance during the year 2016.

Lakshan Fernando, a member of Team Sampath represented Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket team (vice captain), at the 3rd Asia Deaf Cricket Cup 2017 at Hyderabad, India.
The team emerged as runners-up in the tournament. 

Team member of Sampath Bank, Chamath Danawansa was selected as an “ALL STAR PLAYER" at the recently concluded 51st Senior National Basketball Championship.

He represented the Colombo District Basketball Team and emerged 1st Runner-up at the tournament.
