Sampath Bank PLC successfully concluded the raising of Rs.
2,650 Mn for Asiri Central Hospitals on 12 June 2008. The
fund raising was done to finance the relocation project
of the Asiri Central Hospital (Formerly Asha Central Hospital)
and subscribed by Sampath Bank PLC, Bank of Ceylon, National
Savings Bank, Hatton National Bank PLC, Commercial Bank
of Ceylon PLC and National Development Bank PLC.
The
signing ceremony was held at the Sampath Centre with the
representatives of the respective Banks and Mr. Asoka Pathirage,
Chairman of Asiri Group of Hospitals.
Speaking
at this occasion, the Managing Director/Chief Executive
Officer of Sampath Bank PLC Mr. Anil Amarasuriya stated
that this was the largest syndication facility arranged
by Sampath Bank, which showed the confidence placed by the
subscribers on the project as well as the Asiri Group of
Hospitals.
The
proposed project envisages the construction of a 250 bed
hospital facility on Norris Canal Road. This would replace
the existing Asiri Central Hospital at Horton Place, which
was taken under the wings of the Asiri Group of Hospital
in year 2007. The new facility is capable of catering to
a vast range of patients’ needs ranging from channeling,
OPD, general care to specialized tertiary care. The specialties
would include general medicine & surgery, paediatrics,
gynaecology & obstetrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology,
urology, nephrology, psychiatry, neurology, plastic surgery
etc. The 14 storied building would comprise of over 200
patient rooms, 10 theatres, an ICU, Emergency Treatment
Units, a Cardiac Care Unit, 80 channeling rooms, a food
court, a shopping mall, Apartments for health tourism, a
laundry, a kitchen and a car park for 350 vehicles. The
best and the latest diagnostic facilities such as CT &
MRI would also be installed.
Since the site is located in close proximity to the National
Hospital of Sri Lanka which is visited by over 10,000 visitors
on a daily basis in addition to its large staff and the
residents in the neighborhood, the new hospital would definitely
become a centre of attraction for a large number of patients.
Furthermore, since the new hospital would be situated within
a distance less than 2 kilometers, loyal clientele of Asha
Central Hospital would also be automatically attracted to
the new hospital. This hospital would become the flagship
hospital of the group, and is scheduled to be completed
in March 2009.
